The 3 City Challenge!
To push your body to the limit is something that a few people like to do and if you’re anything like me – I love doing it, I just don’t like getting round to doing it. Nonetheless while looking randomly at Google Maps today I came up with a bright (or not so bright) idea that I wanted to do something for a charity that has special meaning to me. The outcome? A 3 city challenge. I made it up and the name is a working title, but it consists of travelling on foot – either jogging, walking or probably crawling – between 3 cities.
Me and my buddy who trains with me sometimes have decided to travel on foot from Leicester to Birmingham and then onto Coventry, then back to Leicester. It’s 82 miles long according to Google Maps.
With all of the challenges that people are taking on today, it may not seem that extreme – but here’s the tricky part, we’re doing it without rest. Google Maps reckons it will take us 27 hours on foot, so that’s a whole day and a bit travelling on foot with no sleep – I love my sleep, going without sleep will be hard enough, but constantly moving as well might just cause me to fall asleep on my feet!
We wanted to make the challenge difficult enough to encourage people to sponsor us, because after all we will be doing the walk for charity. We have decided the charity and after liaising with them, we will be announcing their name. (We want to make sure we have the proper authorisation).
So if you guys and girls have any times for us, they’d be greatly appreciated – we’ve only ever been on jogs that last about 45 minutes tops – and we walked most of that! Send your tips over to robin@robinshill.com.
I’ll be keeping you all up to date through the Body Blog with the training schedule and any future developments. We’re hoping to get some press coverage to help us raise a chunk of cash for charity.
